When woodsman Richard Cypher's (Craig Horner, "Monarch Cove" and "Blue Water High") life gets turned upside down after discovering that he has a profound destiny to fulfill as the Seeker, he is thrust into an unfamiliar world of magic, sorcery and evil. With Kahlan (Bridget Regan, "Sex and the City" and "Six Degrees") a woman with magical powers of her own, and a wise old wizard named Zedd (BRUCE SPENCE, "Mad Max 2" and "The Matrix Revolutions") by his side, Richard fights to protect innocent lives by confronting dangerous and evil forces.

In the upcoming second season, Richard, Kahlan and Zedd will encounter an array of rich and compelling new characters, both good and evil, and they will be tested in ways that they never could have imagined. The trio will discover that in defeating the bloodthirsty tyrant Darken Rahl, their victory is short-lived as they inadvertently unleashed an even greater evil on the world. "New and even more ferocious villains will be introduced in the next chapter of Richard's journey that will astonish viewers," commented Executive Producer Ken Biller.

"Legend of the Seeker" is from the talented team behind the long-running, successful series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess," and the studio that produces primetime network hits including "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Army Wives." The series is produced by ABC Studios and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Ken Biller, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ned Nalle and Josh Donen serve as executive producers. "Legend of the Seeker" is broadcast in more than 95 percent of the country, including all of the top 50 markets. The series airs Saturdays and Sundays in national syndication.

On Thursday, July 23rd, Terry attended the 2009 Comic-Con in San Diego as a featured guest on the LEGEND OF THE SEEKER Season 2 invitational panel. The room was packed, standing room only. Doors opened for seating at 4:30 PM and the panel began promptly at 4:45 PM. The lights dimmed and a projector fired up, playing a Season 1 recap with highlights from the more memorable episodes. The reel lasted about 5 minutes and then the room lights were switched back on and the focus shifted back to the main stage.

First to the podium was the Moderator who introduced Terry Goodkind as the creator of the SWORD OF TRUTH series books and LEGEND OF THE SEEKER television series. His introduction was followed by Bruce Spence, the actor that portrays Zedd in the series, and Executive Producer Ken Biller.

After the guests were seated, a six part moderator-led Q&A begin with the first question being the most important on everyone's mind; what does Terry Goodkind think of the television show? His response:
"I've been writing the SWORD OF TRUTH SERIES for the last few decades. This entire thing began with just me, alone, in a room by myself... It's difficult for any creator to develop characters and stories and see them changed. The characters in the television series are not true to the characters in the books. A lot has changed. That's the negative. But the positive side is that a lot of new readers have been brought into the books, as a result of the television show... Everyone that has been brought into the series by either a friend or a family member or a co-worker or similar, so the fans that have come to the books as a result of the television series are no different. It was simply another path to here. For that, I'm grateful. The television series is just an entry point to much more."
Executive Producer Ken Biller pushed back a bit, suggesting the television series was more true to the characters than some believe, but this was met with pockets of eye rolls from the audience and a swift retreat. Ken eventually rescinded with, "We consult Terry's work every day, seeking input for the characters and the storylines." In all, both Bruce and Ken were extremely appreciative of Terry, mentioning numerous times their respect of the books, enjoyment of the original characters, and Terry's in-kind support for the show.

Shortly after, the moderator then pointed, "How involved are you with the television series?" to which Terry humbly replied;
"I'm not involved at all. I'm writing new books, working on new stories, and developing new ideas. Disney purchased the SWORD OF TRUTH series property, it's theirs to develop into a television program that is entertaining and enjoyable and that's what they do best. What I do best is write stories."
Bruce Spence, the actor that plays Zedd, mentioned numerous times during the panel that his character is acted with deep inspiration from Terry Goodkind's novels and, when dimly asked by the moderator how much the books have influenced Zedd's character, Bruce replied, "The character wouldn't exist without the books. It's just that simple."

After a brief discussion about the Season 1 DVD release, Ken mentioned the series would be available in multiple languages. Terry then joked, "Well you already have Bruce and he can speak Australian." This generated big laughs from the audience and Bruce chuckled, "I speak New Zealand too." More laughs. This led to an interesting discussion about the career arc Bruce Spence undertook, leading him first to Australia for MAD MAX and eventually around the globe working on various film and television projects until finally, LEGEND OF THE SEEKER, where he ended up in his hometown of Auckland, filming across the street from the elementary school he grew up.

"Did you ever imagine you'd be filming movies over there?" to which Bruce heartily offered, "Never! Never once did I think such things. What a blast it has been."

The discussion then led into specifics about the Season 1 5-DVD boxset including;
Official release date: October 13th 2009
Behind-the-scenes feature with Terry Goodkind including an interview at his home in Las Vegas where he discusses the SWORD OF TRUTH books in detail and a thrill-ride in his Radical SR8 LM race car.
Will be released on October 13th in standard definition DVD format.
Blu-ray format will not be released until the cost of Blu-Ray comes down a bit. ABC is only releasing LOST in Blu-Ray television series format for right now. Prices expected to come down for Christmas/Winter Holidays.
Next up, a 10-minute preview of the second season with footage recently shot in Auckland and details about what's to come;
Brief clips from the next season were shown including a long-form segment with a gigantic crack running through the ground, green mist and fire coiling out, with Zedd giving Richard and Kahlan ominous warnings about what will happen if the STONE OF TEARS is not found.
Confirmed that Charisma Carpenter (ANGEL and BUFFY) will play the role of TRIANA (Mord'Sith Warrior) during Season 2 with an introduction at the season premiere.
Zedd, "The stone is a very small object... in a very big world." Cue cut to shots of Richard and Kahlan rushing on horseback through dimly lit forests.
Tabrett Bethell (Mord'Sith Cara from the Season 1 Finale) has now been cast a regular of the series and will appear through-out Season 2.
Terry Goodkind laughed, sighed, shook his head, smiled, nodded excitedly, and otherwise showed a wide range of emotions during the Season 2 clips, clearly satisfied with much of what he saw, although mildly bemused by some of the more unusual character treatments. As he puts it, "The television series is merely an entry point to the books, one of many."
Following the moderator Q&A, a microphone was handed off to the audience for a brief open forum. The first person up to the microphone asked Terry if he ever had role models in life that helped him become a writer.
"I always wanted be a writer. When I was in Creative Writing in High School, I had a teacher that greatly inspired me. I didn't start writing until I was about 45, but I always had that burning desire to write."
The second and third questions were about the television series including; In the season finale (Season 1), did Kahlan finish Richard's confession? "No, she didn't finish the confession." In the second season, will we find out about Richard's father? First Executive Producer Ken Biller replied, "You'll have to watch the television show to find out!" The question was then passed to Terry Goodkind who mused, "Read the books!" This generated very big laughs from the room.

The panel wrapped up at 5:45 with an autograph and informal meet-and-greet session immediately after.

Если кратко, то: Терри, конечно, как и любому автору нелегко переносить то, что его персонажей изменяют, тем более так чувствительно, как в сериале. Но он рад, что благодаря этому к его книгам обратилось большее количество человек.
В производство сериала он никак не был вовлечен, его дело - писать книги.

Боюсь, что это не они, по крайней мере про кастинг на эти позиции ничего не было слышно.
Будет некая [guote]wicked Mord'Sith named Triana[/quote] злобная морд-сит Триана, собственно ее мы и видели в трейлере.

А на счет бороды..Если вспомнить книги, то как раз в "Камне слез" Ричард отрастил бороду в знак протеста, когда его завербовали Сестры Света. Однако что хотят сказать этим авторы сериала, я не знаю, тем более Сестер Света вроде как не будет.

Продюсеры сериала радостно потирают свои жадные ручонки! Удалось сэкономить на графике и костюме скрийлинга, сперев реквизиты, оставшиеся от съемок "Чужих"=) Морд-сит с луками, хыы)
